Level 4 Fire Ban for the County of St. Paul
St. Paul County – The County of St. Paul has elevated the Level 3 Restriction issued on July 16 to a Level 4 Fire Ban, effective July 23 at 3:30 p.m. The ban reads as follows:
- No open-air fires are allowed on private land, in campgrounds, or on any other lands within the County.
- All fire permits are suspended or cancelled. No new fire permits will be issued.
- Propane and/or natural gas-powered appliances are allowed.
WHERE IS THE FIRE BAN?
The fire ban applies to all areas within the County of St. Paul, including campgrounds.
If you reside in the Town of St. Paul, the Town of Elk Point, or the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay, please refer to their websites, as their municipalities have the authority to issue their own fire ban should the need arise.
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
The County has cancelled all active fire permits and will no longer be issuing new fire permits. The permit application form on the County website has been disabled at this time.
All open fires within the County are banned, including campfires in campgrounds and random camping areas. Charcoal briquettes, turkey fryers and tiki torches are considered open fires and therefore banned. Also prohibited are fireworks, flying lanterns, and exploding targets.
WHAT IS ALLOWED?
Portable propane fire pits and gas propane stoves designed for cooking or heating.
